HISTORY-WISE - Our last newsletter started out, "We’ve been kind of on vacation since our last newsletter." Well, we’ve definitely done a 180 during this past month and the exact opposite has been true for April!

Much of my (Phyllis’) time has been consumed with changing over legal guardianship of my 87-year-old mother to me from my two younger sisters and getting my mother out of the nursing home, where she definitely did not belong, and out on her own. This has been an incredible journey - many lows and many highs and lots of miracles - but we are about to see the fruits of our labor, with the extreme awesome power of Almighty God, and my mother will soon be "emancipated" from that awful place. There’s an old song I used to sing called, "It’s Not An Easy Road", and it definitely has been that, and there were times after times that I couldn’t even pray. All I could say was "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!" But that cry of my heart was heard by my Heavenly Father, and He knew what all I was saying in just that one name. How did the Gaithers put it: "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! There’s just something about that Name." Oh, yes.

At any rate, we have passed the hardest part of the storm, and although all the challenges are not completely settled, we are close. There have been so many people praying and working to bring this whole situation about, and we can not thank those people enough for the prayer support they provided. Others have provided other kinds of support, without which we would not have made it.

And while in Oklahoma our 252,000-mile van pretty much decided to die, so we were stranded there for a couple of weeks, all the time working to free my mother from her "prison", but God sent us some angels. A wonderful couple from the Derby (KS) Church of the Nazarene actually drove all the way from Derby, bringing a car trailer down to Heavener, OK where we were stranded, and they drove us and our incapacitated van all the way back home. What beautiful people! We hadn’t known them that well before, but we know them now! You get pretty acquainted spending seven or eight hours together in one vehicle. And when we arrived back in town, we called the pastor of the Derby Church about what we owed for gas and all, and the pastor e-mailed with, "You don’t owe anything on expenses. Let’s just say someone who believes in you covered it all." Blessings on blessings. PTL!

Because of some other ministry friends, we now have a 1997 Chevy Astro van. We’re preparing as I write to leave on a tour to Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, so that van took some fixing up, but we trust it will get us around now. So thank you all for your prayers. We can’t survive without them.

Being legal guardian of my mother and living five hours away presented a challenge I was not a little concerned about. But God set up another whole set of miracles, and it is highly probably that my other sister will be moving to Heavener so she and my mother can live together, and I will feel so much better about that situation with family there.

While in Oklahoma, the First Baptist Church in Heavener, where my mother attends on Sunday nights (she plays the piano for the First Christian Church in Heavener on Sunday mornings), invited us to present a concert there, so we ministered on a Wednesday night while in town. One of the ladies from that church told me, "The devil hates your mother, but all the rest of us love her." To know her is to love her, that’s for sure.

Haskell Cooley and his wife JoLee attended a recent concert of ours. Haskell was the pianist for the famous Cathedrals quartet for five years and lives in Wichita and has a recording studio there. Frankie recorded his latest project with him, his "Rock’n’Roldies" CD. So we invited him to play a couple of his piano arrangements for us. I know everyone at the concert was truly blessed. Haskell and JoLee have their own gospel music ministry, for about 28 years now, I think, so if you love southern gospel music, folks, give them a call. Their phone number in Wichita, KS is 316-945-9410 and his e-mail is haskellcooley@cox.net . Or go to their web site: www.geocities.com/haskellcooley

BLESSINGS-WISE - All glory to God our Heavenly Father!

***In response to our article in last months’ e-newsletter about tithing from the gross or the net, a ministry friend e-mailed: "The late Larry Burkett once said on a pre-marriage counseling video about tithing from gross or net. His reply to the question was: ‘Do you want the Lord to bless your gross income or your net income?’ Just thought I’d share that with you. That was almost 20 years ago I saw that video, and that comment has stuck with me all these years."

***A pastor friend e-mailed: "I just want to thank you for the wonderful time I had with you last week. I am grateful to God for the lives touched in this community. I do believe it was the best concert the two of you have ever given. All praise is given to God for He has given you the gifts."

***At one of our concerts, an 11-year-old boy said to his mother, "They are awesome!"

MUSIC-WISE - "It [the music] is a fusion of jazz and punk. It’s called junk!" (from the movie Robots)

DID-YOU-KNOW-WISE - ...that the word "muse" means "to think", but the word "amuse" means "to not think." (Last Trumpet Newsletter, August 2005)

...that in the eyes of a Satanist, aborted babies are the highest form of human sacrifice possible, for it takes the life within the womb. (Cutting Edge newsletter)

KJV-WISE - Concerning our stand for the King James Version, a ministry friend wrote: "Your loving kindness (and boldness) has made such a difference in my life. My prayer life after reading His PURE word [the KJV] has changed dramatically and my heart feels light. I have shared your insight with a few people who like me, want to get it right and do not want to risk anything at all...I just wanted to tell you how thankful I am that you ALERTED me to the fact that I was being deceived and passing it on. Not intentionally and therefore God forgives me...God has blessed you indeed and will continue to use you to praise Him and His Son! May the Light continue to shine upon you."

HEALTH-WISE - In response to our article in the last newsletter concerning the dangers of aspartame, a ministry friend e-mailed: "Wanted to let you know how happy I was to receive the note from your son, Frankie, regarding the aspartame....I’ve been trying to tell many people about this issue and happy now to forward your message to them, as well. Blessings to you both as you continue to share His Word through your ministry!"

And a further article from the internet, which I have re-titled Aspartame Poisoning Masks As Multiple Sclerosis: "In October of 2001, my sister started getting sick. She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain.

"By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick. She just knew she was dying. She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in her oldest daughter’s name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of. She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

"On March 19th I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn’t find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS. I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I asked my sister if she drank diet soda. She told me that she did. As a matter of fact, she was getting ready to crack one open that moment. I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking the diet soda!!! I e-mailed her the article my friend, a lawyer, had sent.

"My sister called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me she had stopped drinking the diet soda AND she could walk!!!! The muscle spasms went away. She said she didn’t feel 100% but she sure felt a lot better. She told me she was going to her doctor with this article and would call me when she got home. Well, she called me, and said her doctor was amazed! He is going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind. Yes, she had.

"In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda...and literally dying a slow and miserable death. When she got to Florida, March 22nd, all she had to take was one pill, and that was a pill for the Aspartame poisoning! She is well on her way to a complete recovery. And she is walking!!! No wheelchair!!! This article saved her life. If it says ‘SUGAR FREE’ on the label, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT EATING OR DRINKING IT!!! I have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE on "ASPARTAME," marketed as ‘Nutra Sweet,’ ‘Equal,' and ‘Spoonful.’

"In the United States in 2001 there was an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causing this to be rampant. I stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.

"I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous:"

To be continued in next month’s e-newsletter.

I (Phyllis) was questioned about the accuracy of this information by a very well-meaning friend who said that the web site truthorfiction says the information is disputed. Dear friends, this information is only disputed by either those who don’t want to know the truth, or who are part of an agenda to keep us sick. There is so much information on this subject, and all you have to do is Google "aspartame poisoning." I did and there are 150,000 references on the subject! Don’t take it lightly. It’s not called "aspartame poisoning" for nothing! And it has actually been proven over and over that a lot of people, when they stop the aspartame diet drinks, actually lose weight! Stop drinking that poison!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT-WISE - The Silent Sermon

A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the pastor decided to visit him. It was a chilly evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastor’s visit, the man welcomed him, and led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited.

The pastor made himself at home but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone.

Then he sat back in his chair, still silent. The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone ember’s flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead.

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The Pastor glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.

As the pastor reached the door to leave, his host said, with a tear running down his cheek, "Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in church next Sunday."

AMAZING FACTS-WISE - (from Hidden Truth-Amazing Bible Facts Revealed, p. 17)

Alfred Nobel invented dynamite, which he sold for use in mining, railroading, and other construction--creating safer, more efficient labor. But the military soon discovered its destructive power in wartime. Not wanting to be remembered for a weapon that caused so much destruction, Alfred made sure that the bulk of his estate would go to fund humanitarian advances in science, peace, and medicine--we know these awards as a "Nobel Prize."

LAUGH-WISE - My pastor friend put sanitary hot air hand dryers in the rest rooms at his church and after two weeks took them out. I asked him why and he confessed that they worked fine, but when he went in there he saw a sign that read, "For a sample of this week’s sermon, push the button."

Found in a flier advertising an air bed: "Airtight system with manufacturer’s guarantee not to leak. Repair kit included."

A nurse walks into a bank. Preparing to write a check, she pulls a rectal thermometer out of her purse and tries to write with it. She looks at the flabbergasted teller, and without missing a beat, says, "Well, that’s great. That’s really great. Someone’s got my pen."

SIGN-WISE - At an optometrist’s office: "If you don’t see what you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place."

On a taxidermists’ window: "We really know our stuff."

In a veterinarian’s waiting room: "Be back in 5 minutes. Sit! Stay!"

In the front yard of a funeral home: "Drive carefully. We’ll wait."

KID-WISE - JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: "The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt." Concerned, James asked: "What happened to the flea?"

***TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, "Why doesn’t your skin fit your face?"

***The Sermon this Mom will never forget. "Dear Lord," the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face, "Without you, we are but dust." He would have continued but, at that moment, my very obedient daughter (who was listening!) leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"

LAST BLAST-WISE - "Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’" Acts 2:37

"I preach to my congregation week after week. And I pray that I may be able to preach with such convicting power that my people will sweat! I do not want them to leave my services feeling good. The last thing I want to do is to give them some kind of religious tranquilizer - and let them go to hell in their relaxation.

"The Christian church was designed to make sinners sweat. I have always believed that, and I still believe it. The messages preached in our churches should make backslidden Christians sweat. And if I achieve that objective when I preach, I thank God with all my heart, no matter what people think of me. Jesus is Victor!

"Lord, help me to preach with boldness - not concerned with ‘what people think of me.’ Amen." -A. W. Tozer

FINAL ADMONITION-WISE - "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men." Acts 5:29 KJV
