FVM e-Newsletter for Frankie Valens Ministries

January, 2007

www.frankievalensministries.com  and www.frankievalens.com

WELCOME to the first edition of our FVM e-newsletter! In the past we have mailed out newsletters on a periodic basis - mostly when the funds permitted us to do so. During the past three years, however, we have not stayed in touch very well with our ministry friends so we hope this e-newsletter will accomplish that.

We are mailing this newsletter to everyone on our e-mail list, for whatever reason you are on our list, not knowing who wants to be on the list and who doesn’t. So if you prefer not to receive this newsletter, simply Reply and change the Subject to say "Please remove my name from your list." No other message is necessary. Also, if you are receiving this newsletter at more than one e-mail address, would you mind notifying us which e-mail you would like for us to use for future editions, and which one not to use, to save the duplication. We appreciate your help and understanding in this new venture.

HISTORY-WISE - To catch up those who are new to this list, we’ll fill you in a little bit on our last four or five years. We lived in Wichita, KS for 5 ½ years, and then God directed us to move to Duncan, OK for two years. We were members of Immanuel Baptist Church while there, with Pastors Jack and Ginnie Robbins. We grew to love them and the people of Immanuel, and then God directed us back to the Wichita area, to Derby, KS, which is sort of like a suburb of Wichita. Church-wise, we attend the Derby Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Jon and Cheryl Shellenburger.

Our mailing address now is:

Frankie Valens Ministries

620 N. Rock Rd, Ste. 230

Derby, KS 67037

LISTENING-WISE - We are now heard internationally on Internet radio at www.live365.com/stations/kych_radio . And www.frankievalens.walkwithchristgospelradio.com . We have been told our programs on those two stations have been #1 programs. We praise God that our music and our message is going around to so many countries. At one point, KHIB, which was in affiliation with KYCH (above) was heard in 89 countries.

We will be on Satellite/web TV on Monday, January 15, 2007 from Odessa, TX from 8:00-10:00 p.m. I noticed a new word on the TV the other day. It was "webisode." Apparently that’s an episode on web TV. Isn’t high tech interesting?

Our music is also available for Ipods now. Some months ago Walk With Christ Gospel Radio called us to say that someone had taken all our music off their station, so we had to send more CDs, and this station suggested we might go with the Ipod availability system. So we paid a fee to let people download our music for free! What’s wrong with this picture? Nothing, actually. We feel that those who are downloading our music that way wouldn’t purchase CDs anyway, and at least now they are hearing the messages in our music. Who knows what God can do in this way? Anyway, here’s the web site for that: http://ipod.frankie-valens-music-ipod.com . And you know what’s funny about all this? We neither have an Ipod, nor know how it works! (But our grandkids do!) However, for those who do know, it can bless them.

BOOK-WISE - Phyllis’s sister Joyce Huber recently e-mailed us the following note regarding a tremendous book that she co-wrote and edited and which has just been released. She says: "This is the story of Pastor C.L. Johnston and New Life Church in the New Boston suburb of Detroit, MI. Presently, a $6.5 million facility sits 75% completed, a monument to the abuse of governmental power. Fit for occupancy, this beautiful building sits senselessly vacant, due to an unimaginable sequence of events and legal maneuvers perpetrated by a township that ‘didn’t want another church’ in ‘their’ city. Especially a multi-racial church! After occupying the finished portion for a brief time, the township mired the church in litigation and refused to re-issue an occupancy permit, and the church was forced to bounce from hotel to hotel, high school auditorium to open air park for two years.

Even so, this church managed to retain a congregation of about a fourth or fifth of its original size and keep an entire staff. As of this past summer (‘06), this band of faithful warriors was able to obtain another facility as an interim place of worship until God has His ultimate say in the matter. The book is finished, but the last chapter of the story has yet to be written when God has the final say."

You say this can’t happen here in America? Well, it did. Please go to the web site www.pastorunderfire.com, watch the video, then order the book. And pray.

CD-WISE - We released two new CDs last year. The first one was an all-gospel CD titled "We Stand In Awe," which had been a year in the making. There are some old classics as well as a few newer ones on this project. One of the features of that CD is the song, "When They Ring The Golden Bells." Phyllis’s Dad, Paul Cook, who was a minister, missionary and singer, was known for his rendition of that song, and so in 1967 his sister provided him with the funds to make a record, called "When They Ring The Golden Bells", of all the songs he used to sing. Phyllis played for him on that record, sang on some of the songs, as did some other family members. Then in 2005 we transferred the song to this CD and Phyllis sang a duet with her father. He had gone to where they ring those golden bells in 1981.

Other songs on that CD include His Eye Is On the Sparrow, Praise the Lamb of Calvary, Praise and Thanksgiving (piano), and Down At the Cross. Go to our web site at www.frankievalensministries.com for the full list of songs as well as sound bytes to listen to a portion of each song, or to order the CD through PayPal. You can also send us your check at our mailing address mentioned earlier and we’ll send the CD to you when we receive your check.

In the fall of last year Frankie recorded his first all-oldies CD in nearly 15 years, called Rock’n’Roldies. There are 20 songs that are truly representative of the songs of the era, including fun songs like Lollipop, Party Doll, Purple People Eater, and Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. Some others included are Blue Velvet, It’s So Easy, Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye, and When I’m 64. Interestingly, Frankie recorded that last song just one week before he turned 64! Again, check the web site for a complete listing of songs, or to order.

BLESSINGS-WISE - We have ministered at a couple of nursing/retirement homes recently. At one of them, after we were shaking hands with the people, one of the residents told us, through his tears, "You made my day!" As we were leaving, another resident pleaded with us, "Please come back! Please come back!" At another home, one of the residents said, "You made my week!" And several of them were asking us to please come back. We thank God we are blessed to be a blessing.

FAMILY-WISE - We spent Christmas with Phyllis’s 87-year-old mother in Heavener, OK and presented a program for that nursing home on Christmas Day. Phyllis’s mother is an extraordinary person, especially for her age. She teaches 10-14 piano and bell students a week; she was Heavener’s Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year 2005; she writes a weekly column for the local newspaper; she plays the piano for her local church; and often walks 3-5 miles a day. I’d say that is amazing, wouldn’t you?

DID YOU KNOW-WISE - Ladies, did you know that your mascara probably contains bat dung? Yuck! I’m not advertising for them, but I do know that the Arbonne mascara does not have bat dung in it. (from the Internet)

HEALTH-WISE - Did you know that margarine is literally but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC? Leave a tub of margarine in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days note: no flies nor fruit flies will go near it. It does not rot or smell differently...nothing will grow on it...because it is nearly plastic. Try butter instead. (from the Internet)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT-WISE - There is a lot of talk today about "the chip" and it’s purpose and use. We do know that animals have been "chipped" for several years, and many high profile dignitaries have opted to have the chip inserted for various reasons. A friend told us that she knows of a company where the employees must have the chip to enter the building and work there.

"But not everyone is so quick to endorse chipping. A quick scan of the Internet shows that mind control is a big fear among anti-chippers. The ‘mark of the beast,’ said to herald the end-times, is also a popular belief. In a surreal twist, the Scotsman Newspaper reported that Applied Digital [the company marketing the chip] had consulted theologians in their attempt to assure consumers the chip did not fit the biblical description of the mark of the beast because it is under the skin and hidden from view." (From an article at www.dissidentvoice.org/Nov2004/Burstyn1116.htm)

Interestingly, there is good reason for the theologians to try to put Applied Digital at ease, because consider the following from Revelation 13:16:

The King James Version says - "...to receive a mark IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads." Guess the theologians didn’t consult that version. Check the following:

NASB - "to be given a mark ON their right hand or ON their forehead."

New Century Version - "to have a mark ON their right hand or ON their forehead."

Contemporary English Version - "to put a mark ON their right hand or forehead."

NIV - "to receive a mark ON his right hand or ON his forehead."

New Living Translation - "to be given a mark ON the right hand or ON the forehead."

New King James Version - "to receive a mark ON their right hand or ON their foreheads"

The Message - "to have a mark ON the right hand or forehead."

Do you see a problem here? Just because the majority say "ON" does not make it so. We need to get our sources right.  Your life could literally be at stake!

LAUGH-WISE - Here’s some PUNNY stuff:

Energizer Bunny arrested - charged with battery.

A pessimist’s blood type is always b-negative.

Did Noah keep his bees in archives?

SCHEDULE-WISE - We plan to include our Itinerary for the present month and the upcoming month in each newsletter, so you can not only keep track of us, but also pray for us. God (and our mechanic) keep our 246,000-mile van working well, and we thank them.

LAST BLAST-WISE - Some "WISDOM FROM GRANDPA"

On anniversaries, the wise husband always forgets the past-but never the present.

Too many couples marry for better, or for worse, but not for good.

Trouble in marriage often starts when a man gets so busy earning his salt that he forgets his sugar.

FINAL ADMONITION-WISE - "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." (Colossians 3:17 KJV)
