HISTORY-WISE
- We had a concert
recently in Bushton,
Kansas, and it turned out
to be more significant for
us than we realized
because when Frankie
walked in, he remembered
we had been there before.
He finally realized that
we had sung and played for
a wedding there for some
friends ten years ago!
Now I've slept a couple of
times since then, so I
didn't remember everything
right away, but as we
began talking, memories
did start coming.
Six cheerleaders from
Chase High School also
attended the concert, and
they had their picture
taken with Frankie before
the concert. Then afterwards
they asked him to sing an
oldies song, so he offered
to do a short afterglow
for them, and that was the
hit for the evening.
Frankie joked with them,
saying they probably
wanted to take him for
Show-And-Tell, and they
quickly responded with,
"Could we?"
The evening was truly a
witness to them because
they heard the gospel
story, they saw that
Christians indeed can have
a good time in the Lord in
a church, and seeds were
planted. God will do
the watering.

KJV-WISE
- Short critique of The
Message paraphrase
To the new readers of
our newsletter, this
column is a regular
feature. We maintain that
the Authorized King
James Version of the
Bible is the only pure
Word of God.
NavPress, the publisher
of "The Message"
has advertised it as a
"translation from the
original languages"
that "accurately
communicates the original
Hebrew and Greek" and
brings out "the
subtleties and nuances of
the Hebrew and Greek
languages."
"Instead, what we
have here is a free
paraphrase of the text,
often very eccentric, with
many unlikely renderings,
lengthy insertions and
omissions, and other
problems."
"Long and
formal-sounding sentences
in the original are often
simply replaced with
punchy phrases: ‘The
grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ be with you’
is replaced with a jovial
‘Enjoy the best of
Jesus!’ The language is
spiced up with slangy and
amusing idioms. In
Acts 13:6, ‘crooked as a
corkscrew’ is used
instead of the simple
adjective ‘false’."
"Often the version
sometimes takes on a
cartoonish quality. For
example, in James 4:7
instead of ‘Resist
the devil and he will flee
from you’, we have
‘Yell a loud no to the
devil and watch him
scamper.’"
And consider the
following review of The
Message which recently
appeared on a religious
homosexual website:
"What about the
passages against
homosexuals, you might
ask? Well, although
we found his [Peterson's]
translation of Romans
1:26-27 a bit off, I
Corinthians 6:9-10 and I
Timothy 1:9-10 have been
liberated from their
homosexual bias and are
translated in ways that
are much more inclusive
and truer to their
original intent. We
at Spirit & Flesh
say, nicely done!"
"In Mr.
Peterson’s article,
‘Spirit Guest,’
published by Christianity
Today, 11-8-93, he
refers to two mystics,
Juliana of Norwich and
Teresa of Avila, whom he
looks to for personal
spiritual encouragement.
And popular New Age author
Madeleine L’Engle, who
is involved in mysticism,
gave this endorsement: ‘The
Message is so good it
leaves me
breathless.’" So
when a New Age author and
the homosexual community
embrace the book, does not
that speak for itself?
Let’s get back to
basics. Let’s get back
to the pure Word of God.

| Fluoride
Damages Your
Brain! |
|
If
you still believe
the myth that
fluoride is good
for your
children’s (and
your) teeth, think
again. There are a
vast number of
scientific
research studies
confirming the
opposite – that
fluoride is a
toxin that is
extremely
detrimental to
your body, your
brain, and even to
your teeth.
One
of the most active
research areas
today is
fluoride’s
ability to damage
your brain. Recent
human studies from
China have
confirmed the
results of
previous animal
studies; that
elevated fluoride
exposure leads to
reduced I.Q. In
children.
Cognitive ability
is further reduced
if your child is
deficient in
iodine.
Prior to this,
more than 30
animal studies
produced since
1992 have reported
impairment in
learning and
memory processes
among animals
treated with
fluoride.

Over the Hilltop.
The suggested
donation will be
$15.00 each or two for
$25.00 plus $2.00 shipping
and handling. You
can order through PayPal
through our website, or
send us a check and we'll
mail it to you. For
those of you who, as
Frankie says, "have
white hair, grey hair, or
no hair," you're
gonna love this one!
And speaking of PayPal,
we will be changing our
web site payment option from
PayPal to GearPay shortly.
We have received several
e-mails that indicate that
PayPal will be reporting
every transaction made
through them to the IRS,
and we don't want to
subject you to that kind
of invasion. Please
check out www.GearPay.com
and see if this isn't an
alternative you might want
to choose.

KID-WISE
- From our
daughter Heather comes the
following:
"[Our granddaughter]
Tyler, age 6, prays every
night before we eat and
one time...she was saying
her thanks, and she told
the Lord to have a good
time up there!
Precious! So make
sure you let Him know that
Tyler wants him to have a
good time 'up
there.'"
Actually that's the title
of one of the songs on
this new CD! So
yes, Tyler, we'll let Him
know, especially through
that song!
PRAYER-WISE
- Paul
and Trish Jackson, friends
of ours who are also music
evangelists, are in much
need of prayer. Paul
was recently diagnosed
with kidney cancer, has
had surgery and is taking
chemo pills. They
have been in their
ministry for 30 years, and
they are now uncertain as
to what direction God will
have them going.
They have several needs
for prayer, including
Paul's healing, and they
need prayer for direction
for their ministry now, as
well as finances for their
ministry since they will
be limited, if even able,
to do their concerts and
ministry. At this
time Paul has a 5% chance
of recovery. But
they, and we, know that
God does not have to work
in the natural. They
have tremendous faith, but
there are also times where
the reality comes to them,
and I'm sure makes it
difficult to handle
everything. Please
pray for these
faithful servants of the
Lord.
