HISTORY-WISE - Many of you may remember that we had to sell our old van that, for all purposes for us, died.  We put this into the hand of a cousin of mine who has contacts for such items.  Not only did he get more for it than we had previously asked, he told us, "Your van is on its way to Mexico!  I guess they (the purchasers) figured they could put enough oil in it along the road to keep it going that distance."  I call it our "contra-van"!

For those of you who have been following the saga of my (Phyllis') mother, I can happily report that she is doing very well.  She actually flew out to South Carolina to spend three weeks with my sister there, and had a marvelous time.  She enjoyed standing over my sister's shoulder reading her e-mails, querying about "What are you going to do now?" and telling my sister she went through all her drawers looking for batteries, to which my sister responded with, "See that phone there?  It would have saved you time (and my privacy) to call me!"

She is ready to start up her piano lessons again and is planning for her Christmas recital.  For all she's been through, she's coming out smelling like a beautiful rose.

One of the perks of our touring is seeing friends and family we haven't seen in years.  At a recent college reunion, I got to see my former piano teacher who taught me just one year my last year in college, who was very special to me and directed my senior piano recital.  It had been over 45 years ago.

We will be in concert in Waynesville, MO in August and Frankie learned that his dad had preached at that Christian Church there many years ago.  He didn't remember that place as being where his dad had preached.  We feel God is so good to bring people and situations like that into our lives for whatever reasons, but always for His good, as well as ours.

BLESSINGS-WISE - All glory to our Heavenly Father!

***"At an assisted living place, one of the residents, through tears, said, "It's a great blessing when you're here.  We appreciate you."

***A pastor admitted to us that he had "checked us out" by calling a church where we had previously ministered, and he said, "They gave you rave reviews!"

***God definitely had you here for a reason.

***Those who weren't here tonight really missed out.

***Thank you so much for sharing your testimony with us.  I pray that you were blessed as you have surely blessed us.  May God go with you and touch you in a very special way beyond your expectations.

***This was very, very, very good.

***You brought me back.  I've been "gone" for six months (from the Lord) and the Holy Spirit, working through you, brought me back.

***I hope you have enjoyed your time with us as much as we have enjoyed having you.

***Where else would you have "Unchained Melody", "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and praise and worship all in one concert?

***At the end of a concert, a pastor said to his congregation, "I'm speechless."  There was a long pause, then "I'm still speechless."

KJV-WISE  - Some quotes:

"I must under God renounce every attachment to the New American Standard Bible...The deletions are absolutely frightening...Some of the finest people in the world believe in that Greek text, the finest leaders that we have today.  You'd be surprised: if I told you, you wouldn't believe it.  They haven't gone into it, just as I hadn't gone into it: [they're] just taking it for granted.  At any rate we went out and started on a feasibility report, and I encouraged him [Dewey Lockman] to go ahead with it.  I'm afraid I'm in trouble with the Lord, [emphasis mine] because I encouraged him to go ahead with it.  We laid the groundwork; I wrote the format; I helped to interview some of the translators; I sat with the translators: I wrote the preface.  When you see the preface to the New American Standard, those are my words....I'm going to talk to him [referring to Dr. George Sweeting, president of Moody Bible Institute] about these things...Friends, you can say the Authorized Version is absolutely correct.  How correct?  One hundred percent correct."  (quoting Dr. S. Franklin Logsdon, a former pastor of Moody Memorial Church from Which Bible is God's Word? By Gail Riplinger, p. 49)

"As a member of the editorial committee in the production of the Amplified New Testament, we honestly and conscientiously felt it was a mark of intelligence to follow Westcott and Hort, Now, what you have in these books [by Westcott and Hort] strikes terror to my heart.  It proves, alarmingly, that being conscientiously wrong is a most dangerous state of being.  God help us to be more cautious, lest we fall into the snares of the arch deceiver." (quoting Dr. Franklin Logsdon, one of the members of the Amplified Version committee, ibid, pages 19 and 20)

One of the men on the New King James committee has been buying the best-selling Gale Riplinger book, New Age Bible Versions, a book that broke the ground for the expose of the new versions of the Bible, and passing them out at churches where he goes.  Another committee member gave her an endorsement for her book. (ibid, p. 40)

When editors and new version committee members are declaring the validity of the Authorized King James Bible, shouldn't we consider their studied responses?  I think so.

HEALTH-WISE - "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest...be in health..." III John 2

In our continuing expose of the side-effects of the drug aspartame, resulting in aspartame poisoning, the following statements are found at www.wnho.net/american_fda_poisons_world.htm

"There have been thousands of cases of vision problems, blindness and seizures."

"You remember Flo Jo, a runner, perished.  She had a seizure while drinking her Diet Coke.  The heart has to work harder and because of aspartame damaging the cardiac conduction system and causing sudden death, she didn't have a chance."  (www.wnho.net/aspartame_MSG_scd.htm )

"When Pilcher, the athlete, died in West Palm Beach...he [had been] worried about his weight and would go a couple of days without eating.  Then he would drink Diet Coke all day laced with aspartame.  So aspartame killed him just like it is continuing to kill athletes, even little student athletes in school."

"...aspartame is a multipotential carcinogen.  In original studies it triggered brain, mammary, uterine, ovarian, testicular, thyroid and pancreatic tumors."

"...aspartame damages DNA...aspartame also damages the mitochondria [our cells' power sources]."

"It has been known for a quarter of a century aspartame causes cancer and is documented in the records of the FDA...aspartame causes cancer even in low doses."

"...the terms ADD and ADHD were not even used until the early 1980's when aspartame was approved."

"Dr. Bill Deagle informed me he had seen the vats of bacteria the amino acids in aspartame are made from.  He said 'its toxic sludge'. www.wnho.net/moleclar_holocause_of_aspartame.htm )"

"...aspartame can precipitate diabetes...It also simulates and aggravates diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, destroys the optic nerve, causes diabetics to go into convulsions and even interacts with insulin..."

We are imploring you to get off the diet drinks (which aren't diet), the "lite" foods, and always check ingredients.

MUSIC-WISE -  While playing a piano number with the accompaniment trac at the beginning of our concert, I did a glissando (fingers sliding down the black keys), and when I finished, I ended up with one of the black keys in my hand.  Of course the trac kept playing and within a split second or two, I was wondering what I was going to do about that now-missing black key.  The mind doesn't tell you that you can just continue playing the "key" in that place and the note will sound.  And what about the rest of the concert?

The trac finished and Frankie was completely at a loss as to what had happened.  Laughing heartily, I stood up and showed him and the audience the black key in my hand, but he had no clue what I was actually holding, and neither did the audience.  When I finally explained what I was holding, the worship chairperson and the pastor hastily left the room, shortly returning with the very obvious solution - double-stick tape!  They stuck that black key back on in its place, and I finished out my other piano numbers in fine fashion.  I just didn't play any more glissandos!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT-WISE - When did we as Christians decide to ignore one of the Ten Commandments - the one that says to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy?  And do you have any idea where the change to Sunday worship began?

Prior to A.D. 321, church worship was always on the Sabbath.  "And for his part, Emperor Constantine imposed the first Sunday law.  In A.D. 321 he proclaimed: 'On the venerable Day of the Sun [Sun-day], let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all the workshops be closed.'  Constantine's civil legislation was soon incorporated into church teaching and practice--first by the Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364, and later by other ecclesiastical councils, church synods, and papal pronouncements."

And from The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, long used for all who joined the Catholic Church, comes this:

"Q.    Which is the Sabbath day?"

"A.    Saturday is the Sabbath day."

Notice how it continues:

"Q.    Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?"

"A.    We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday" (1957 ed., p. 50)."  (from The Next Superpower by Mark Finney, p. 139)

Just something to think about.

AMAZING FACTS-WISE - A shrew is never satisfied. It is the smallest animal with the biggest appetite!  If a shrew  doesn't eat for six hours, it can die from starvation!  It's ravenous metabolism is so fast, it must eat three times its body's own weight every day!  ( from Hidden Truth-Amazing Bible Facts Revealed, p. 17)

LAUGH-WISE -

***Recently while driving to our next concert, Frankie and I were traveling through western Kansas where there are miles and miles of just "nothing" but highways and open fields of corn and wheat.  We had stopped at a convenience store, and the woman in line ahead of me said to the cashier, "We've been traveling on the highway out here and all we see are just open fields.  Where do you people live?!?!"

***The Way I See It #236 - Scientists tell us we only use 5% of our brains.  But if they only used 5% of their brains to reach that conclusion, then why should we believe them?  (a Starbacks customer)

***A woman walks in a store to return a pair of glasses that she had purchased for her husband a week before.  "What seems to be the problem, madam?"  "I'm returning these glasses I bought for my husband.  He's still not seeing things my way."

SIGN-WISE -

***At a gas station:  FREE GAS TOMORROW!  (Think about it!)

***At the electric company:  We would be de-lighted if you pay your bill.  However, if you don't, you will be.

***At a propane filling station:  Tank heaven for little grills.

HUH?-WISE -

***I recently tried to access the web site for the Gaithers but found out that the only way one can do that is to either pay $45.00 or $65.00 for the privilege of finding out more about them.  Something seems wrong with that picture.

***Bumper sticker:  Thank God I'm an atheist!

KID-WISE - A first grade school teacher in Virginia had twenty-five students in her class.  She presented each child in her classroom the first half of a well known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.  It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders.  Their insight may surprise you.

1.    Where there's smoke there's - pollution

2.    Happy the bride who - gets all the presents

3.    A penny saved is - not much.

4.    Two's company, three's - the Musketeers.

DID-YOU-KNOW-WISE -

A 1997 nationwide study found that the bankruptcy rate in counties with at least one gambling establishment was 18 percent higher than for those counties without gambling.  (The Chronicle, Wichita, KS, November 2005)

LAST BLAST-WISE - "Ye that love the Lord, hate evil.  He preserveth the souls of His saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked."  Psalm 97:10

This may come as a surprise to you, but because you are a Christian doesn't mean you are supposed to love everything.  Now, we hear that Christians are to be a people of love, and that is true.  But did you know that if you're a Christian, not only must you learn to love, but you also must learn to hate?  If you love God, then you hate what God hates.  It is true in every realm.  If you love flowers, you hate weeds.  If you love health, you hate germs.  If you love God, you hate evil.  It is just that plain.  Romans 12:9b tells us in even stronger terms to "abhor that which is evil."  A hypocrite, which is something none of us want to be, is someone who says he loves God, but then he doesn't hate sin.  Don't tell others you love God, if you don't hate that which nailed His Son on the cross.

Ask God to break your heart with the things that break His heart.  As God to teach you to hate sin, yet love the sinner.  (by Adrian Rogers, Love Worth Finding Daily Devotional 5/8)

FINAL ADMONITION-WISE - "But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord." Jeremiah 9:24 KJV

P.S.  If anyone has access to any musical animations or any kind of animations you might determine that I can use in the newsletter, I'd appreciate it if you would e-mail them to me.  I'm limited on my sources, and would love to expand my library.

P.S.S.  If your church ever used Standard Publishing's VBS courses during the years 1970-1990, and you still have some of the little VBS song books, and wouldn't mind parting with them, I would love to have them.  My own song books were in a storage unit years ago that leaked and ruined the books, so I'd be happy to get ahold of them again.  If you do have some, please e-mail me and I'll give you our mailing address.  And thanks ahead of time.
