HISTORY-WISE - Our lives have been completely revolving around my mother's situation lately, but with the help and blessing of our Heavenly Father, and many, many friends, we went to court and my mother is finally free from her awful torment of the nursing home.  That was the biggest HALLELUJAH!  She is living alone - her choice - in a small apartment and just blossoming beautifully.  We saw miracle after miracle of God's amazing grace and power as the events have unfolded, and although there are still issues to be handled, at least we are on the "up" side.  This has been an arduous journey, but it's such a huge blessing to see how God fought for the life of that one precious soul to redeem her from her darkness and bring her into His marvelous light.

I can honestly say that no one loves the Lord more than my mother does, and we truly don't know why she had to go through what she did - five years in a horrendous nursing home and nine days in a psych ward where they tried to "make" her appear mentally ill when she wasn't showing any signs of it.  That's right.  They also tried that in the nursing home as well.  We certainly have our own lengthy story of elder abuse.  As I write this newsletter, Dr. Phil has a show today with Maureen McCormick (from the Brady Bunch) about elder abuse, and our situation somewhat parallels what he is saying.  It's scary, but probably happens much more than "gets out there."  But our God went before us, and my mother has begun her long road to healing and restoration, which at 87 is no small project.

She still is teaching piano lessons and is still playing the piano for her church, and has now begun doing some walking again (she used to walk four and five miles a day before her walking privileges were taken away).  The rest of her life will pick up as she is able.

So many have done so many things to bring about my mother's freedom, but three people especially stand out.  Bob and Louise Tate from Heavener, OK made their home completely available to us for actually several weeks during all this fray, even providing some meals, laundry facilities, and their dog Molly who was such a joy when so many times things were very difficult and sometimes seemingly impossible.

We could never have accomplished what we did had we had to pay for a motel for the many nights we were there.  They made us feel completely welcome during the whole time, and reassured us we were not overstaying our welcome.  Such wonderful friends we'll never be able to adequately thank.

And Sam Wilson, a realtor, and also from Heavener, offered my mother a small apartment he had in the back of his large garage/shed that is just perfect for my mother.  The thing is - he offered it to her only if she would agree NOT to pay for it.  What an abundant blessing.  God will certainly reward his generosity as well.

"Thou art the God that doest wonders."  Psalm 77:14 KJV

We do still have issues we are pursuing, but all in all, the main thing is that my mother is free, that she is doing as well as can be expected for her age and for what she has gone through, and God's faithfulness is so great - it's new every morning.

"His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS."  Lamentations 3:23 KJV

Ministry-wise, we have seen souls blessed and saved - what more could we ask?  We've renewed some friendships, made new friends.  What more could we ask?  Thank you, Lord.

BLESSINGS-WISE - All glory to God our Heavenly Father!

***"Once again, I would like to thank you so much for coming to Memorial Baptist Church tonight!  You were truly a blessing.  I believe we had at least 5 decisions, and that was those who came forward.  I'm sure there were others who did not come forward.  Praise God!  I can just imagine the crown you will have in Heaven to place at our Master's feet!...I will treasure this night for eternity, and I am looking forward to the time in Heaven when we can all sit down and just "jam" and sing, and reminisce!

***You-all were at Memorial Baptist last night and I want to let you know that God truly blessed me with being able to see the realness in your love for each other and for Him.  Thank you ever so much for being open to His direction in your personal lives so that your ministry rings so true."

***Jesus always uses you.

***You gave me goose bumps!

***The grace of God shines on you two.

MUSIC-WISE -  (With tears in his eyes, an older man said to me) "I didn't know that piano could sound like that."

KJV-WISE - Try answering these from your NIV.

Part One:  Using the New International Version bible, answer the following questions.  Do not rely on your memory.  As the Bible is the final authority, you must take the answer from the Bible verse (not from footnotes, but from the test).

1.  Fill in the missing words in Matthew 5:44.  "Love your enemies, __________ them that curse you, __________ to them that hate you, and pray for them that __________ and persecute you."

2.  According to Matthew 17:21, what two things are required to cast out this type of demon?

3.  According to Matthew 18:11, why did Jesus come to earth?

4.  According to Matthew 27:2, what was Pilate's first name?

5.  In Matthew 27:35, when the wicked soldiers parted His garments, they were fulfilling the words of the prophet.  Copy what the prophet said in Matthew 27:35 from the NIV.

6.  In Mark 3:15, Jesus gave the apostles power to cast out demons and to __________.

7.  According to Mark 7:16, what does a man need to be able to hear?

8.  According to Luke 7:28, what was John?  (Teacher, prophet, carpenter, etc.)  What is his title or last name?

9.  In Luke 9:55, what did the disciples not know?

10.  In Luke 9:56, what did the Son of man not come to do?  According to this verse, what did He come to do?

11.  In Luke 22:14, how many apostles were with Jesus?

12.  According to Luke 23:38, in what three languages was the superscription written?

13.  In Luke 24:42, what did they give Jesus to eat with His fish?

Part Two in the next newsletter.

HEALTH-WISE - Continuing on from last month's newsletter from an article entitled "Sweet, But Poison": Part Two.

I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous.

When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F. The wood alcohol in aspartame converts to formaldehyde (which is what embalmers use for embalming!), and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis.  Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.  The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus.

Many people were being diagnosed in error.  Although multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, methanol toxicity is!  Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers.

The victim usually does not know that the aspartame is the culprit.  He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become a life-threatening condition.  We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off diet sodas.  In cases of those diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, most of the symptoms disappear.

We've seen many cases where vision loss returned and hearing loss improved markedly.  This also applies to cases of tinnitus and firbromyalgia.

During a lecture, I said, "If you are using aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from firbromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains and numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss, you probably have aspartame poisoning!"  People were jumping up during the lecture saying, "I have some of these symptoms."  "Is it reversible?"

Yes!  Yes!  Yes!  STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for aspartame on food labels!  Many products are fortified with it!!!  [over 5,000]  This is a serious problem.  Dr. Espart (one of my speakers) remarked that so many people seem to be symptomatic for MS and during his recent visit to a hospice, a nurse stated that six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been dianosed with MS.  This is beyond coincidence!  Diet soda is NOT a diet product! [emphasis mine]  It is a chemically altered, multiple sodium (salt) and aspartame-containing product that actually makes you crave carboydrates.  It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight.

These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fact cells, particularly in the hips and thighs.  Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin and is primarily to preserve "tissue specimens."  Many products we use every day contain this chemical but we SHOULD NOT store it IN our body!"

Dr. H. J. Roberts stated in his lectures that once free of the "diet products" and with no significant increase in exercise, his patients lost an average of 19 pounds over a trial period.

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics.  We found that some physicians, who believed that they had a patient with retinopathy, in fact, had symptoms caused by aspartame.  The aspartame drives the blood sugar out of control.  Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids necessary for a good balance.  Treating diabetes is all about BALANCE.

Especially with diabetics, the aspartame passes the blood/brain barrier and it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain, causing various levels of brain damage, seizures, depression, manic depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger and rage.

Next newsletter - Part Three.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT-WISE - We Are Never Alone (source unknown)

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone.  He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.  He cannot cry out for help to anyone.  Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.  He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into the manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified.  He can hear all kinds of noises.  Wild beasts must surely be all around him.  Maybe even some human might do him harm.  The wind blows the grass and earth and shakes his stump, but he sits stoically, never removing the blindfold.  It would be the only way he could become a man!

Finally after a horrific night, the sun appears and he removes his blindfold.  It is then that he discovers his father sitting on the stump next to him.  He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

We, too, are never alone.  Even when we don't know it, our Heavenly Father is watching over us, sitting on the stump beside us.  When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to him.

Hebrews 13:5 gives us this promise:  "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

AMAZING FACTS-WISE - (from Hidden Truth-Amazing Bible Facts Revealed, p. 18)

One cold winter in South Wales, a mother was traveling cross-country with her young babe and was caught in a blinding blizzard.  The following day, upon learning she never reached her destination, a group of men went out searching for her.  They soon spotted a large mound of snow in the road.  They quickly swept away the white powder and found the frozen body of the barely dressed woman.  In her arms was a bundle of clothing, which they unwrapped to reveal her baby--alive.

In the struggle of the snowstorm, the woman had taken off most of her clothing and wrapped it around the little boy to keep him alive.  She knew that she would perish, but that the baby might survive.  The baby grew up to become David Lloyd George, the celebrated Prime Minister of Britain during the World War I.  One of the reasons he achieved such greatness is that he never forgot about his mother's love and sacrifice.

LAUGH-WISE - Pun Intended

You have to have a certain mindset to enjoy puns.  For those of you who do, here's atcha.

1.  Did you hear that NASA recently put a bunch of Holsteins into low earth orbit?  They called it the herd shot 'round the world.

2.  Two boll weevils grew up in South Carolina.  One went to Hollywood and became a famous actor.  The other stayed behind in the cotton fields and never amounted to much.  The second one, naturally, became known as the lesser of two weevils.

3.  Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, but when they lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it, too.

4.  A three legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West.  He slides up to the bar and announces:  "I'm looking for the man who shot my paw."

5.  Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal?  He wanted to transcend dental medication.

6.  A woman has twins, and gives them up for adoption.  One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named Amal.  The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him Juan.  Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother.  Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amal.  Her husband responds, "They're twins!  If you've seen Juan, you're seen Amal."

7.  And finally, there was a man who sent 10 different puns to friends, in the hope that at least one of the puns would make them laugh.  Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.

HUH?-WISE - At a recent concert a woman told us that she liked one of our songs so much that she just kept hitting the repeat button over and over and over as she played it.  But now she is going to put it on a CD as many times as it will go on that CD (she thought it would be about 25 times!) so she won't have to keep hitting the repeat button any more!

KID-WISE - My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday.  He asked me how old I was, and I told him, "62."  He was quiet for a moment, and then asked, "Did you start at 1?"

After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair.  As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin.  At last she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings.  As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"

A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like:  "W used to skate outside on a pond.  I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard.  We rode our pony.  We picked wild raspberries in the woods."  The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this in.  At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?"  I mentally polished my halo while I asked, "No, how are we alike?"  "You're both old," he replied.

A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor.  She told him she was writing a story.  "What's it about?" he asked.  "I don't know," she replied.  "I can't read."
